| CUSTOM PRODUCTS: AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE SYSTEM |
The
System
Rapid response to orthopaedic surgical need is made practical
by Endotec's advanced CIM facility for the highly automated
design and manufacture of orthopaedic devices. Typically in
the manufacture of a custom prosthesis, patient X-ray and/or
scan data, and surgeon and engineering design specifications,
are entered into a powerful computer workstation where a solid
model of the prosthesis design is automatically generated.
Computer drawings, renderings, and templates are then transmitted
to the surgeon for review. After surgeon approval the design
is transferred electronically to Endotec's manufacturing work
cell where the part is machined and finished. When porous
or other coatings are specified, an additional week is needed
to process the prosthesis. This integrated system will usually
result in the delivery of a custom prosthesis in two to four
weeks.
Customs
All patient needs cannot be met by standard catalog offerings.
Thus, as an integral part of the Endotec's systems approach
to meeting patient needs, we offer a rapid response, custom
orthopaedic prosthesis service for special cases. Within a
week of receiving a request for a custom device, an Endotec
engineer will submit a proposed design to the requesting surgeon.
After the surgeon and engineer agree on the design, and a
purchase order is received, a custom prosthesis, and special
instruments for its implantation, can be delivered within
one to three weeks depending on the manufacturing requirements
of the prosthesis.
